ST. LOUIS -- Just minutes after Robbie Lawler KOed Matt Lindland, Paul Daley added to the Strikeforce KO highlight reel, taking out Scott Smith a killer left hook at 2:09 in the first round on Saturday night.
Daley knocked down Smith early, but Smith recovered and continued to trade jabs with the hard-punching Daley. Smith started to build a rhythm but gave Daley an opening. Daley exploited it, throwing a perfect hook. Smith stiffened up and fell straight to the canvas.
Daley is now on a three-fight winning streak since losing to Josh Koscheck and getting dropped by the UFC for throwing a punch after the fight had ended. This was his first fight in Strikeforce, and with one punch, he showed that he was well worth the investment.
