Strikeforce
has put together another dynamite card tomorrow night on Showtime. The
televised portion of the event is filled with some of the best young
fighters in the game. Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal is already regarded as a
top 10 light heavyweight and he's six professional fights into his
career. Lawal defends his title against the very dangerous Rafael
"Feijao" Cavalcante. Another great wrestler, Tim Kennedy gets his shot
at stardom in a middleweight title fight against world champion jiu-tisu
ace Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza. Kennedy, 30, had a little delay in arriving
at this level. As a member of the Army's Special Forces he was away
from fighting for most of 2004-2006. A winner of four straight fights
(all finishes), Kennedy is ready to make up for lost time. "No
one has really gotten to see everything that I have to offer yet.
Combined my (Showtime) fighting time is like nine minutes or something,"
Kennedy (12-2) told Heavy.com. "All three of (my Strikeforce) fights
were very similar. All three of those guys were weak off their back.
Now a guy like Jacare, who is actually dangerous (off his back), I’m
going to
knock him out because I know he can’t take me down."Jacare (12-2) has only been stopped twice in his career. Kennedy says Souza has a few weaknesses he can exploit. "He’s a juggernaut when he’s got top position, and he’s
not terrible at anything, but his stand-up’s not great," said Kennedy. "His clinch isn’t great.
His wrestling is good, but it’s not great. I think he’s soft when he’s on his back,"It's
also a big night for Bobby Lashley. The former WWE star needs a win
over Chad Griggs and then there are some big fights on the horizon.
