Filed under: Boxing RumorsRicky Hatton said he turned to alcohol and drugs because he was struggling to deal with retirement.
Hatton, a former world champion boxer, was admitted to a rehabilitation clinic after the News of the World published a video of Hatton that appeared to show him snorting cocaine. Hatton's spokesman later confirmed Hatton's drug use.
The former boxer responded with his own interview on the paper's website Saturday.
"I have been binge drinking heavily and dabbling in other daft and silly things," Hatton said. "I am currently in the Priory (clinic) dealing with depression due to the fact I have not been able to cope with my retirement from boxing." The full interview will be published on Sunday.
